Description
Bean Bag Filled With Eco-Friendly Organic Buckwheat Hulls
Our new Buckwheat Hull Bean Bag is a great alternative to the usual non-biodegradable polystyrene balls filling. Traditional in shape, the bag is manipulated into your own ideal position. Per volume buckwheat is heavier than polystyrene, making these chairs heavier than your standard bean bag.
Organic Buckwheat Hulls are encased in a zipped 100% unbleached cotton inner, which is then attached inside a strong soft babycord outer cover. This well made cover has a top handle and convenient side pocket for phones/remote controls etc.
Three sizes are available, each in six great colours.
Medium – Width 55cm, Length 55cm, Height 70cm; filled with approx 75L of Buckwheat Hulls. Weight approx. 11kg (suitable for a child aged 4-7 yrs).
Large – Width 70cm, Length 70cm, Height 90cm; filled with approx 150L of Buckwheat Hulls. Weight approx. 20kg.

Our bean bag inner cases are treated with a vegetable-based flame retardant that complies with UK safety regulations; the 100% cotton outer covers are untreated. We strive to use eco-friendly and natural materials wherever possible. Cover and inner are both washable at 40°.
A Bit About Our Buckwheat
Our Organic Buckwheat Hulls are not treated with herbicides, pesticides or fungicides during growing, around harvesting or in their storage.
The hulls (sometimes referred to as husks) are the outer shell of the buckwheat seed. They are widely used in products that would otherwise be filled with cotton batting or more toxin laden substances. Buckwheat hulls are often considered superior to man made fillings; more durable, they do not insulate or reflect heat as much as synthetic fillings.
Our hulls are not roasted. The groats are separated using a roller press. The husks (hulls) are then triple screen graded and forced air cleaned. This process makes them choice filling for the likes of meditation cushions, sleep pillows, cushions, bean bags, meditation beds, buckwheat toppers, soft toys, draft excluders and many other upholstered goods.
Brow Farm’s Buckwheat Hulls have been tested and shown to meet the flammability performance requirements in accordance with British Standard 5852:Part 2:1982-3 Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations) 1989/93.
