Oat Groats for Cooking & Milling
Stabilised Oat groats. These are oats that have had their inedible outer husk removed and then been minimally processed (lightly steamed) to extend their shelf life. Hulled oats retain their high nutritional value, and can be used in a variety of ways.
Full of phytochemicals, oat groats also have both soluble and insoluble fibre. With vitamin E, several B-vitamins, calcium, magnesium and potassium, oats also have some of the trace minerals selenium, copper, zinc, iron and manganese.
Oat groats can be processed into a range of products including oat flour. However, being whole they can take a long time to prepare and cook, so whole oat groats are best lightly crushed or cracked, making them cook more quickly.
