Description
Whole Grain Barley for Cooking & Milling
Our Milling Barley is a spring barley. It is generally sown in March and harvested in August here at Brow Farm. Its short growing season means we don’t have to use pesticides, which is better for the farms wildlife and the soil.
Barley for milling produces a non-wheat flour. It’s a popular alternative to wheat flour because, unlike many non-wheat flours, it contains some gluten. This makes it an excellent option for bakers looking to work with alternative flours. This is not pearl barley, although it can be cooked.
Our Milling barley was grown last year on the fertile farmland of West Lancashire. The Barley is harvested and, if needed, dried to a moisture content of 14% before cleaning and storing.
ALLERGEN WARNING: CONTAINS BARLEY (A SOURCE OF GLUTEN)
Available in several sizes, the 5 and 10Kg options can also be purchased in a Food Safe Bucket with Lid.
