Naked Oats
Naked Oats are a unique and nutritious alternative to traditional oats. Unlike conventional oats, these oats naturally shed their hulls during harvesting, resulting in an entirely unprocessed grain that’s rich in nutrients and taste. Packed with protein, fibre, and essential fatty acids, they’re an excellent addition to a balanced diet.
This versatile grain can be used in various recipes. Naked oats are perfect for making hearty porridge, adding to smoothies, or incorporating into granola bars. They can be milled into flour to make baked goods such as bread and muffins. Or use them as a base for savoury dishes such as oat risottos and grain salads.
To cook, first rinse thoroughly under cold water. For porridge, combine 1 cup of naked oats with 3 cups of water or milk in a pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 25-30 minutes until the oats are tender and creamy. For a more chewy texture, cook for a shorter time.
